The yaba head was unable to find a job and turned to yaba dealing again.
When: January 6th, 2021
Where: Phetchabun province
Perpetrators: Mr. Wichian
Victim: Mr. Nawat Kaewduang, 29
What: The incident was caught on CCTV. Mr. Wichian walked onto the property of the victim, Mr. Nawat Kaewduang, 29, and threatened him with a pocket knife, first demanding money that he thought was owed to him, telling the victim he had until 5PM to deliver. Mr. Nawat denied owing Mr. Wichian money. The culprit then forced Mr. Nawat to search under a motorbike seat and in the car for money before leaving.
The victim reported the incident to police, who detained Mr. Wichian without incident. They administered a urine test, which turned purple – indicating the presence of narcotics.
Mr. Wichian confessed that he was under the influence of yaba and alcohol that day. He said he attacked Mr. Nawat because he just got out of jail for drug charges and was unable to find a job. He turned to selling yaba, supplied by a larger dealer in Nong Phai district. But every time he did a drug deal, police would come around Mr. Nawat’s house. Thus, Mr. Wichian thought the neighbor was snitching to police and Mr. Wichian had to flush the yaba down the toilet every time police came around.

My take: The paranoia from yaba use and cycle of petty drug dealing due to economic hardship and being unable to get a job because of a drug record is a real problem.
It leads to dangerous situations like this where innocent people get caught up in the paranoid yaba fueled delusions of the user. Glad that Mr. Nawat was unharmed.
