Village Chief Shot Dead in Conflict-Ridden Yala Province

The village chief also served as a local peacekeeper.

When: December 11th, 2020

Where: Chakwa subdistrict, Raman district, Yala province

Perpetrators: Unnamed gunman

Victims: Mr. Ruslam Duraem

What: The southern Thai province of Yala has seen another local leader gunned down. The murder happened at 8PM on December 11th, 2020. Mr. Duraem, 40, served as village chief and assistant peacekeeper to the area.

Authorities found him dead in front of his home with several gunshot wounds. Before the shooting he was just relaxing at his home. After the incident the suspect fled. More updates as they come in will be reported here.
