On January 7th, officers announced that they had found and arrested the culprits. After the body was found an investigation found that Mr. Roongroj Sawat, 43, and Mr. Sathapong Chansanit, 48, had jointly dumped Mr. Chalit’s body on the road. They are described in the report as a gay couple. Their vehicle was identified by CCTV and seized by police.

Police in Surat Thani were notified of a shooting in the Phanom district on January 5th, 2021. They arrived at the scene and found a motorbike parked in front of a house. The owner of the motorbike, a 30 year old man, was shot in the chest twice, once in the shoulder, and once in the neck. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The gunman, a 58 year old man who owned the home where the motorbike was parked in front, fled into the forest in the back of the home after the incident. His wife told authorities that the two were in the home when they heard a motorbike outside. It parked in front of their home and revved the engine. The gunman became upset and got his gun, came out, and shot the motorbike driver before fleeing.

Police arrested the culprit a couple hours later. He was arrested for attempted murder.

My take: I will be curious to see if there are any follow up reports with the autopsy. It sounds like from the initial reports though that it was a bit of fun between the three that was taken too far and ended in an unfortunate death.
