Thief Shot Dead, Found in Field in Rayong

He was reportedly the same man who broke into a nearby factory earlier that morning.

When: January 1st, 2021

Where: Thap Ma subdistrict, Rayong province

Perpetrators: Unknown gunman

Victims: Unidentified thief

What: On January 1st, 2021, police in Rayong were notified that a man was found shot dead in a grass field near a factory in the Thap Ma subdistrict of Rayong province.

The body was located about 50 meters from the roadside and 100 meters from the factory. The dead man was found lying face down, wearing a long-sleeved shirt, long jeans, and a rag wrapped around his head and face. He was shot in the middle of his back. Officials estimated he had died at least 5 hours previously.

Investigators reported that he was more than likely the same man who had been reported in a break in at a nearby factory. The body was found with a TV near his body. At 3:30AM on the same day, officers had received a report that a man had cut through the fence to steal property inside the factory. Factory workers confirmed that the items found near the dead man belonged to the factory.

At this time, the gunman is unknown.

My take: This story only makes sense if somebody shot the suspected thief down around the same time that the break in happened. He still had the property on him when killed. That would leave me to believe that a guard or somebody associated with the factory would have had the motive. We will update the story as reports come in.
