Shootout in Bangkok after Drug Dealers Flee Police

They were caught with 5g ketamine and some kratom.

When: January 29th, 2021

Where: Bang Khen district, Bangkok

Perpetrators: Mr. Niwat Chaisawan, 26; Mr. Team, alias, 18

What: At 9PM on January 29th, 2021, police in the Bang Khen district of Bangkok were notified that a white Honda Civic made an attempt to flee arrest. Police set patrol cars after the Honda, which is described as a “racing vehicle”, and intercepted the suspects.

The suspect escaped the Bang Khen circle outbound on Phaholyothin Road. They hit the Phaholyothin BTS Station soi and the suspect smashed into a pick up and tried to ram into a police officer as well.

The officer fired 2 shots at the right front tire before the white Honda careened into a cement barrier. At this point, officers arrested Mr. Niwat and Mr. Team. They found 5 grams of ketamine, 4 bottles of kratom extract, and 50 kratom leaves.

The two suspects were arrested and brought to the Bang Khen police station for further legal action.

My take: A bit of ketamine and a few kratom leaves, which ultimately are begin legalized and descheduled across the country. Not the crime of the century.

But it’s not a good look to turn your Honda Civic into a battering ram and try to kill an officer.
