Progress in Case of Woman Brutally Murdered in Phuket; Her Body Was Found Discarded on the Road

The suspect has been identified and a warrant issued.

Where: Karon subdistrict, Phuket province

Perpetrators: Unnamed suspect

Victims: Mrs. Sopa, 39

What: On February 1st, 2021, Phuket police have updated the media about the case of a woman who was found brutally murdered, her body discarded in a natural area near Patong-Karon road in Phuket on January 29th, 2021.

Officials have released more details about the murder as well. The report states that they went to a home in the Choeng Thale subdistrict, Thalang district of Phuket where it is believed that the suspect murdered Mrs. Sopa before dumping her body.

Officers said that officers examined the scene and found blood stains on the stairs and a mattress. They approved an arrest warrant for a suspect in relation to the crime. They did not disclose who that person is. They expect to be able to find and arrest him within the next 1 – 2 days.

The victim, Mrs. Sopa, is said to be from Phrae province but her address was registered in Nakhon Si Thammarat. It’s said that a Thai style shotgun was used to shoot her in the head several times.

My take: From all the reports I’ve read, there’s no indication of motive at this point. I’ll reserve my thoughts about this brutal murder until more details are released and the suspect is detained.
