The other passenger is in serious condition and can’t get surgery due to COVID19.

The crash scene.

When: January 7th, 2021

Where: Wat Bot district, Phitsanulok province

What: Police and rescue crews in Phitsanulok received news of a car accident at around 8:30PM on January 7th, 2021. They arrived at the scene and found 4 injured, one being a woman who was unconconscious and brought to Wat Bot hospital. This was Ms. Patchaporn Inthet, better known as Pi Ploy, an internet model and influencer. She died later from her injuries.

The vehicle, a Nissan Juke, crashed into an electric pole and went into the ditch. The other passengers are identified as Mr. Santi, 25; Ms. Thanin, 3 months old; Ms. Pimpala, 4 years old; and Ms. Patchaporn Inthet, 24, deceased. Mr. Santi was moved to another hospital and suffered 3 broken ribs and liquid in the lungs.

The hospital he was moved to is a government hospital and can’t perform the necessary surgery in time. The report says he may be moved to a hospital in Bangkok. But due to COVID19, there are risks and they have to see if they’ll accept him as a patient or not.

Fans of Ms. Patchaporn expressed their condolences on her Facebook page and used the hashtag #PiPloy

My take: The interesting part of this story is that somebody who is in need of a life saving injury needs to wait because of the COVID19 situation…

This is the part of the pandemic response that really doesn’t make sense to me. The guy needs surgery. End of story.
