New Sentences Issued in “Victoria Secret” Massage Parlor Trial; 113 Underage Girls Trafficked

The original sentences were issued in August, 2018.

Perpetrators: 7 defendants

Victims: 113 underage girls

What: The 2018 case where 113 underage girls were trafficked from Myanmar and Thailand to perform sex services at the Victoria Secret massage parlor in Bangkok has seen new verdicts. The 113 girls were all under 18 years old.

The defendants named in the report are as follows, in order: Mr. Jangchai, nickname Patik, manager of the massage parlor; Mr. Amornratanasiri, nickname Pakob; Mr. Unsook, nickname Pasa-sang; Mr. Jaruwatpathomkul, nickname Pop Pop; Amarin Onsen Partnership; Ms. Wirathepsuporn; and Davis Silvers Co., Ltd. Two of the included companies. The initial charges included conspiring to traffick in prostitution. All defendants plead not-guilty.

Initial verdicts were issued in August 2018, including 16 years for Mr. Boonsap, Mr. Chainarong, Mr. Ek Naphat, and Mr. Satthatham. Ms. Sasitorn was sentenced 7.5 years in prison.

On December 8th, there was a reported update to the case. The Court of Appeal, Human Trafficking case Division, revised sentences to include:

  • 68 years for the first 2 defendants;
  • 62 years and 8 months for defendants 3 and 4;
  • 8,000 baht fine for Amarin Onsen Partnership;
  • 7.5 years for the 6th defendant;
  • 4 million baht fine for Davis Silvers.

According to Thai law, the maximum length of imprisonment can only be 50 years per person. Compensation to the girls will include 80,000 baht each.
