The woman wouldn’t reconcile their relationship. So he killed her, then himself.
When: January 11th, 2021
Where: Bang Pa-in district, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province
Perpetrator: Mr. Harn Narong, 28
Victim: Ms. Niranuch, 24
What: In the early morning hours on January 11th, 2021, police in Ayutthaya received a report of gunshots at a som tam shop. Investigators found a bloody scene when they arrived. Ms. Niranuch, 24, an employee at the store had been shot in the head and in critical condition. She was rushed to a hospital but died later from her injuries.
By her side was the body of Mr. Harn narong, 28, who shot himself through the mouth and neck. Investigators found a “short Thai shotgun” (note: just relaying what the report says) at the scene.
The owner of the shop, Ms. Wilailak, 35, was in shock. She told investigators that Ms. Niranuch was a cook at the som tam shop. She was pounding som tam at the moment that Mr. Harn Narong, an ex-boyfriend, arrived to reconcile their relationship. There was an argument and after that he shot Ms. Niranuch in the head.
He shouted at customers not to help the wounded young woman. Customers panicked and ran from the shop. At that point, Mr. Harn Narong put the gun in his mouth and fired his last shot.

My take: This story is what I was referring to yesterday (story about forest department officer who killed himself in Lampang in front of lover and her children) when lovers take themselves out, they often take out others.
Sadly, two young lives are lost over what? We’ll never know.
A very Thai question: will this shop be able to re-open after? The locals will know that ghosts of the dead haunt the som tam restaurant after this. I wonder what will come of this shop.
