Two young dealers taken down.
When: November 29th, 2020
Perpetrators: Mr. Nut, 25; Miss Wannipa, 23
Victims: Addicts missing their fix
What: Two dealers in Khon Kaen have been busted with 3.75 kilos of meth and 83,000 yaba pills. This concludes a two year drug smuggling operation where the drugs were brought into the Isaan region of Thailand from Laos. Miss Wannipa communicated with the Lao syndicate via Line and dealt the drugs out of the motel just outside of Khon Kaen city. After getting a search warrant, the police found the drugs in the closet of the motel and in the couple’s Toyota Yaris.

My take: This was a small bust but oftentimes these provide info on bigger cases and leads on more powerful syndicates. Thailand’s war on drugs is mainly fought on three border fronts: the Shan State / Burmese border with Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai; the Isaan’s border with Laos; and the southern border with Malaysia. It’s a never-ending struggle and we’ll continue to see stories like these in the future.
