M16, Silencer, and Other Illegal Firearms Seized in Surat Thani

He paid 40,000 baht for the M16 and ordered it online.

When: January 9th, 2021

Where: Khun Thale subdistrict, Surat Thani province

Perpetrator: Mr. Bancha Phetkhum, 45

What: Police arrested Mr. Bancha Phetkhum at his home in Khun Thale subdistrict, Surat Thani province, after receiving a tip that he was illegally operating a repair and modification shop for a variety of firearms. Investigators found an M16 and other firearms and ammunition at his home.

Mr. Bancha confessed that the weapons belonged to him, all without proper licenses. The M16 was ordered from the Internet for 40,000 baht. He also had military equipment, identified as a silencer.
