Koh Samui Police Supervisor Confessed to Rape of Burmese Woman in Custody

He has been detained and relieved from his post.

When: January 14th, 2021

Where: Bophut police station, Koh Samui district, Surat Thani province

Perpetrator: Mr. Watcharin, police station supervisor

Victim: Unnamed 21 year old Burmese woman

What: One Burmese woman, 21, filed a complaint that while detained at the Bophut police station in Koh Samui, and awaiting repatriation back to Myanmar, that the supervisor of the police station. Mr. Watcharin, raped her at least once.

On January 14th, 2021, the Surat Thani Chief of Police revealed that Mr. Watcharin has been detained based on the evidence received so far. He has also been relieved from his post, according to the report.

The accused Mr. Watcharin did confess in part to the crime.

My take: Now who says there is no justice in Thailand? I guess we have to wait and see how this pans out.
