Instant Noodle Packets Used to Conceal Meth by Malaysian Drug Dealer in Bangkok

The dealer was paid 30,000 baht salary per month.

On February 18th, 2021, police arrested a Malaysian man. Mr. Tan Wei Chet, at his condo in the Bang Na district of Bangkok after being found with an estimated 200-400 packages of instant noodles that he used to conceal and deliver meth to both Thai and foreigner customers.

The police were tipped off to the operation and raided the condo after finding an instant noodle package with 10 grams of crystal meth. They found the 200-400 packages along with a sealing device and scale.

According to the report, Mr. Tan had entered Thailand on a tourist visa. Mr. Tan said that he received deliveries of around 1 kilogram of crystal meth and packaged it up for retail sale in the instant noodle packets.

Police said that he was paid 30,000 baht as a monthly salary and 5,000 baht per delivery. He was arrested on charges possession with intent to sale and overstaying his visa.

My take: In the age of Grab and FoodPanda delivery, it makes sense that dealers have now started packing noodles with crystal meth.

I wonder if there’s an app for that yet?
