Homemade Explosives & Firearms Seized; Suspect Planned to Use Them at Political Rally in Bangkok

On March 5th, 2021, police in Bangkok arrested a man at the Pathumwan intersection in an Isuzu pickup truck registered in Phitsanulok. The driver, Mr. Pichet Khun Kamhaeng, 43 years old, drove recklessly and was pulled over.

When officers searched his car, they found PVC pipe bombs, home made firearms, and gunpowder in plastic bottles. The weapons were confiscated by the explosives recovery unit.

Initial reports said that the purpose of bringing the weapons and explosives to Bangkok were to disrupt the political rally to be held on March 6th, 2021.

Mr. Pichet was arrested for unlawful possession of firearms and explosives.

My take: I’m not sure what he was going to be doing with those wooden handguns, but who knows about the pipe bombs — they could have done some damage to be sure.
