The children witnessed the suicide; their ages: 4 and 9.

When: January 9th, 2021

Where: Ban Pong subdistrict, Ngao district, Lampang province

Perpetrator: Mr. Winyoo, 29; suicide

What: Police in Lampang are investigating a suicide after Mr. Winyoo, 29, an officer in the Royal Forest Department, entered the home of his lover and shot himself in the head. The officers found the deceased lying on his back with “blood and brains” spread around the room. Two 9mm pistols were found nearby.

According to investigators, Mr. Winyoo traveled to the home of a woman who he had been carrying on a relationship with for the past year and a half. The problem is she already had a husband and two children.

Mr. Winyoo shot himself in front of the woman along with her two daughters, aged 4 and 9. Relatives took the children away from the home after the incident due to the horrifying nature of the event.

The motive, according to the report, is that Mr. Winyoo tried to date the young woman even though she had a husband and children already. She is described as being very beautiful. She tried to end communication with Mr. Winyoo but was unsuccessful.

Officers are going to interview the young woman for more details and other motives.

My take: The woman and two children won’t soon forget the bloody scene that played out in front of them. But I’ll just say this: the silver lining is that he only took out himself and let them live.

So often in cases like this the perpetrator takes out everybody involved.
