Firefighter Shot and Killed by Unidentified Gunman in Samut Sakhon

The firefighter received a phone call and stepped outside before the shooting.

When: January 9th, 2021

Where: Khok Kham subdistrict, Samut Sakhon province

Perpetrator: Unidentified gunman

Victim: Mr. Samart, 33

What: Police in Samut Sakhon are investigating a murder of a firefighter by an unidentified gunman. The incident happened on the night of January 9th, 2021 in the parking lot beside the fire station.

Investigators found the body of Mr. Samart, 33, lying on his back in a pool of blood, wearing a collared shirt, black plants, and a red cap. He was shot several times in the body and once in the head with a .380 caliber. They found eight of the .380 shells at the scene.

Investigators reviewed CCTV cameras and saw that the gunman arrived on a red and black motorbike. He waited for Mr. Samart in the parking lot. When the victim walked out he was on his phone. The victim and perpetrator exchanged words at a distance. The victim approached the perpetrator, reportedly punching the air, and that’s when the gunman fired several shots at the victim. The gunman fled the scene quickly after.

A colleague of Mr. Samart said that the victim received a phone call just before the incident and that’s when he walked out into the parking lot. The colleague heard the gunshots shortly after and ran out to see what happened, but did not see the perpetrator.

From a preliminary investigation the cause may be due to personal conflicts. Further details are pending investigation.
