Child Model Agent Arrested for Sexually Exploiting Over 100 Children

High profile Thai actress speaks on the problems in the industry.

When: January 20th, 2021

Where: Hat Yai district, Songkhla province

Perpetrators: Mr. Pongsak Mongkonwiwat, alias Phong, 54

Victim: Over 100 aspiring child models

What: On January 20th, 2021, police in Hat Yai arrested Mr. Pongsak Mongkonwiwat, alias Phong, 54, after complaints that he used his child modeling agency to sexually exploit, rape, and produce child pornography of over 100 children.

The raid seized 10 electronic items, including phones and computers. They are being reviewed now for evidence.

Mr. Pongsak admitted that he “hugged, kissed, and fondled” the children. One of the parents initiated a complaint that their daughter was sexually abused by Mr. Pongsak. That’s when Hat Yai police took action.

Mr. Pongsak persuaded young girls to pose for the camera at various events and claimed that he could pave their way into the higher levels of the entertainment industry. Many of the teenage girls were interested to see themselves and gave Mr. Pongsak a chance. He secretly took photos of them in revealing poses, touched their bodies, grabbed their breasts and genitals, and kissed them.

A famous Thai actress, Bum Panaddawong, talked about the entertainment industry for children on her Instagram. She said that many are involved in this kind of behavior.

My take: This is a global problem, of course. But it’s encouraging that a high profile figure in the entertainment industry is willing to step up and expose how the industry can exploit children and unsuspecting parents. I will follow up on any reports that come in about the sleaze-bag in Hat Yai.

Special Note about Facebook

My personal profile on Facebook was completely nuked — BOOM, just deleted with no warning. This isn’t just a Facebook jail sentence. I was completely banned from the platform.

12+ years of connections, networking, content, the whole works is just poof gone.

So look, if you came to this page from Facebook, and you’d like to continue to read True Crime Thailand content in the event that my group and page are taken off the platform (it’s inevitable), then I only ask that you sign up to my newsletter.

I do not spam. I only use it to send out a weekly digest of the best crime news in Thailand, along with original reports that I write — about once a week, too.
