5 Uni Students Injured in Golf Cart Accident at Chiang Mai Zoo

The zoo director stepped up to the plate and is helping the injured.

When: December 8th, 2020

Where: Chiang Mai Zoo

Perpetrators: Brake failure

Victims: 5 uni students

What: A golf cart accident at the Chiang Mai Zoo on the evening of December 8th, 2020, left 5 uni students, aged 17 and 18, injured. They were taken to Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital.

After the accident, Mr. Muangman, director of the Chiang Mai Zoo, brought staff to the hospital to visit the injured. The uni students, all tourists, rented the golf cart to drive through the zoo. They descended down a steep slope, the brakes gave way, and they collided with a guard rail causing the golf cart to overturn.

Injuries included a leg injury for the driver and broken teeth for others. Reportedly, the zoo will take responsibility for the injured.

My take: I’m wondering if the zoo director stepping up to the plate and being proactive here has to do with Chiang Mai’s abysmal tourist season that they’re having? Either way, good on him.
