The damages are estimated at 1 million baht.

The fire blazes away.

When: December 11th, 2020

Where: Suthep subdistrict, Chiang Mai province

Perpetrators: Unknown cause

Victims: Old wooden house

What: A house fire in the Suthep district of Chiang Mai caused panic as neighbors fled out of fear the flames would spread to their home. Four fire trucks were called out to the scene to fight the fire, including a fire truck from the Mae Hia fire house.

The flames in the 2 story home raged and spread to nearby homes, according to reports. Two other houses were damaged in the incident. Residents fled with valuable belongings for fear that the fire would engulf their homes.

The smoldering remains.

One witness reported that objects could be heard falling onto the roof and flames burst forth from the wooden home after. He called 199 for the fire truck immediately. The trucks arrived within 10 minutes.

The home is owned by Mr. Chatchai Wongkanchai, who is a contractor for building convenience stores. The total damages are estimated to be 1 million baht.

My take: I will be curious to hear how this fire started if it’s reported. I wonder if after a fire like this insurance money is paid out? I’m sure the million baht is more than the value of the old wooden home.
