When: December 11th, 2020

Where: Bang Por subdistrict, Narathiwat province

Perpetrators: Local insurgents

Victims: Mr. Masak Rituan Bosu; Na Yasopon Pasuk, 55

What: It was a bloody day on December 11th, 2020, in Narathiwat province as local insurgents shot and killed two victims in two different subdistricts. This is an ongoing conflict zone that sees many gun homicides.

The first murder happened in broad daylight.Police were called to Bang Por subdistrict after reports of gunfire. Investigators found Mr. Bosu lying on the side of the road, his motorbike tipped over, dead from a gunshot wound. Several more shotgun shells were found nearby. It’s reported that the killers drove away in a sedan after the murder.

Later the same evening, a village leader notified police that four villagers went wild boar hunting on Ban Bilo Mountain. The hunting party was ambushed by an unknown number of assailants, who opened fire on the crew. The hunters fled in the chaos, which saw Na Yasopon Pasuk, 55, dead from a gunshot wound.

Police and military forces have been called to the region to find the culprits. It’s reported that the matter is urgent as it’s believed both murders are tied to local insurgents. The forest is a known hideout area for them.
