The SMS looked like it was from the bank.

When: December 14th, 2020
Where: Samut Sakhon province
Perpetrators: Bank hackers
Victims: 29 people
What: The Royal Thai Police received a complaint from a man named Mr. Thanawat Saengphet, 23, in Samut Sakhon province about an SMS he received in a hack attempt. On December 6th, Mr. Saengphet called the SCB Bank call center to change the address where his bank statements were delivered. The call center staff advised the address change was completed. Thirty minutes after the procedure, he received an SMS with the updated info.
He believed this message was from the bank, and it asked him to fill out his name, surname, and ID card number. The following day on December 7th, he received a notification on Line that 20,000 baht was moved from his main account, despite him not authorizing such a transaction.
He called SCB call center and they advised for him to contact the police. Major General Phanthana said that they are gathering all evidence on the case now, particularly where the money is being transferred. Police are working with financial institutions to track the stolen funds and find the hackers.
A past investigation in a related case found that there were 2 or 3 culprits in a gang abroad that was involved in bank hacking. People are being advised to exercise caution with banking transactions and messages received on their phone.
