2 Dead after Gal Dozes Off while Driving Yaris by Benjakitti Park in Bangkok; Grab Food Driver One of the Deceased

When: December 10th, 2020

Where: Khlong Toei subdistrict, Bangkok

Perpetrators: Ms. Parichat Kinaphan, 32

Victims: Mr. Sakorn Kongcharoen, 42; Mr. Thiraphongsriboon, 29; 2 others injured

What: A tragic vehicle accident took place by the front entrance to Benjakitti Park in the Khlong Toei district of Bangkok on the evening of December 10th, 2020. The driver at fault, Ms. Kinaphan, crashed into the back of a car after slamming into two motorbikes. Mr. Kongcharoen, 42, and Grab Food driver Mr. Thiraphongsriboon, 29, were both killed at the scene. Two others were taken to local hospitals.

Witnesses at the scene report that Ms. Kinaphan drove her Toyota Yaris at high speed before crashing. She apparently did not use her brakes at all. Mr. Thiraphongsriboon was thrown off his bike. Ms. Kinaphan admitted to being very tired when driving and fell asleep at the wheel. The investigation is ongoing.

My take: This was a gnarly accident to watch. Sad that the two guys on the motorbikes died and the driver who dozed off walks away without hardly a scratch.
