The landlord has been up to no good for a long time.
When: January 14th, 2021
Perpetrators: Mr. B, alias, landlord and former teacher
Victim: Ms. A, alias, 19, uni student and tenant
What: On January 14th, 2021, a complaint was filed by Ms. A, 19, a university student in Surin, that her landlord Mr. B attempted to sexually assault her against her will in a curtain motel. She managed to escape.
The event happened earlier in January. Ms. A recently moved into a dormitory building in the university area of Surin city. The owner, Mr. B, made conversation with her and asked if she had a boyfriend or not and where she was from. He invited Ms. A out for dinner. They went to eat at an Isaan restaurant.
Mr. B told the victim that he was a former teacher in Chiang Mai and Surin and she had nothing to worry about. After dinner, Mr. B drove to a curtain motel outside of town. Ms. A was shocked to see this style of motel and asked why he’d brought her there. Mr. B started to grope and kiss her, but she insisted on going back to the apartment. Mr. B asked how much money she wanted but the victim denied his advances.
Mr. B then dragged her into the room and onto the bed. When he went to the toilet, Ms. A escaped and found the male staff of the motel to report the incident. The motel staff said that Mr. B had done this several times. Mr. B ran out of the room to look for Ms. A, and the staff said they did not see her. He complained about bad service at this point and drove off.
Ms. A called a friend to go to her apartment and moved everything out. Several people came forward to report that Mr. B had done this several times. After hearing this, Ms. A decided to go to police so that others would not be a victim.
Another resident of the dorm, Ms. C (alias), told reporters that she’d lived in the dorm several years. She confirmed that Mr. B behaved this way. There were many students who came to stay in the past and moved out for the same reason. Ms. C lived with a boyfriend and for that reason had not been a victim, but Mr. B did try to chat her up on Line and knock on her door at night when the boyfriend was away.
Ms. A took investigators to point at the curtain motel and room (TCT note: literally from the report). Motel staff confirmed the details. Surin police are now investigating and want to give fairness to both sides.

My take: It appears that Mr. B has been up to this for awhile. He has plenty of opportunity if he owns a university apartment building, with fresh faces and victims coming in on the regular.
Now, it took one person, Ms. A, to come forward to stop the antics. The question will be: what will happen to Mr. B when it’s all said and done?
