The drugs were smuggled into Thailand through Nakhon Phanom.
When: January 14th, 2021
Perpetrators: 2 unnamed smugglers
Victim: 1 smuggler shot
What: In the early morning hour of 1AM on January 14th, 2021, police in Korat pulled over an Isuzu pickup truck with Nakhon Ratchasima plates. Two men were in the vehicle. When officers signaled for the truck to pull over, the driver refused and opened fire on officers in an attempt to flee the scene.
One of the smugglers was shot and injured and the other was arrested. The injured was taken to Non Daeng hospital. After inspecting the truck, officers found 2 million yaba tabs and 400 kilos of ice smuggled from Nakhon Phanom province headed for the central region.
A press conference is forthcoming.

My take: Another major bust coming from Isaan. Nakhon Phanom and the connection with Laos drug networks is another major focus that True Crime Thailand has in our reporting, since the attention is often just given to the Golden Triangle. Let’s see what’s revealed at the press conference later, we’ll report on what happens.
Special Note about Facebook
My personal profile on Facebook was completely nuked — BOOM, just deleted with no warning. This isn’t just a Facebook jail sentence. I was completely banned from the platform.
12+ years of connections, networking, content, the whole works is just poof gone.
So look, if you came to this page from Facebook, and you’d like to continue to read True Crime Thailand content in the event that my group and page are taken off the platform (it’s inevitable), then I only ask that you sign up to my newsletter.
I do not spam. I only use it to send out a weekly digest of the best crime news in Thailand, along with original reports that I write — about once a week, too.
