What: Udon Thani police responded to a harrowing spree attack by a young man, Mr. Kittipat Lert Amnuyalarp, 21, described as a mentally ill “maniac” in reports.
Mr. Kittipat, who suffered from depression, asked his grandmother for a gun. He stabbed her in the throat and killed her. He then went off to stab a masseuse in Nonpibun 10 times. She was brought to Udon Thani Hospital with serious injuries.
Mr. Kittipat then used a firearm to shoot Ms. B (alias), an assistant nurse at Wattana Hospital. She was shot in the right arm. Hospital staff then surrounded the perpetrator.
The body of Ms. Anong Lert Amnuyalarp, 69, and the perpetrator’s grandmother was found at her home with a fatal stab wounds in the neck and 10 other stab wounds. The grandfather reported that the grandson had returned from England with his parents a few months ago.
Mr. Kittipat was detained and confessed to the crimes. He was on medication for his mental illness. He asked for his grandparent for guns in order to kill himself, according to reports. But the grandmother did not give him the gun, and thus he killed her, and then went on the spree.
He shot the nurse assistant at Wattana Hospital with a 11mm firearm while taking a COVID19 temperature check.

My take: I never understood why people who want to kill themselves go and take others with them. RIP to the grandmother and we wish a speedy recovery to the injured.
