The founder had been arrested before.

What: On January 15th, 2021, officers from DSI raided a luxury condo in the Thonglor area of Bangkok. They were after Mr. Apirak Kotthi, the founder of Forex 3D. A seizure of assets also took place worth roughly 1 billion baht. The warrant stated he eluded arrest since an investigation in 2019 and had traveled throughout Thailand and regional countries. He had been arrested before in 2020.

There will be a press conference at 2PM by the DSI with further details of the arrest.

According to a report from Channel 7, a group of celebrities were involved in the pyramid scheme. DSI got involved and treated it as a special case. Property was seized as follows: 5 homes and land; condos in Bangkok, Chanthaburi, and Chiang mai worth 380 million baht; 19 cars worth 90 million baht; 12 motorcycles worth 3.6 million baht; and frozen assets of roughly 600 million baht.

Over 10,071 victims had filed complaints with authorities.

My take: Pyramid scheme scammers are the pond scum of humanity. It’s a massive problem all over the world and I follow the cases closely in Thailand, publishing them every time I come across them.

I’ll be looking forward to the press conference at 2PM. Good work, DSI.
